Portlanders hold moment of silence on Burnside Bridge:
honoring the 5th anniversary of George Floyd's Death
Earlier today Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric towards Putin In a vague threat on Truth Social, a platform which Trump owns. The post would then be parroted onto the White House's official Telegram channel.
In the post Trump claims that if it wasn't for him that “lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD.” Trump would then go to add “He's playing with fire!”
This comes at a time where Russia has drastically increased its drone-and-missile attacks on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. These attacks have killed dozens of civilians.
However it is difficult to say if the Trump Regime's words carry any weight. After all Donald Trump has spent most of his presidency flip-flopping between which side he favors more. It's been only months since Trump falesly called Zelenskyy an “unelected dictator” on the same platform, or accused him of “…gambling with World War III” during their firey Oval Office meeting.
It should also be noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also warned the US could soon walk away from peace negotiations if a cease-fire agreement is not met.
Trump has been a little more welcoming towards Zelenskyy since their 15-minute meeting in Rome last April. Although, it is still unclear how the recently brokered US-Ukraine mineral deal will change the US' role in ending the 3-year long invasion.
